First off, congratulations! Getting an interview invite is a huge milestone. You’ve already cleared major hurdles, and now it’s about showing the schools who you are beyond your stats.
A few quick tips from what we’ve seen help students the most:
🧠Know your story. Be ready to talk about why dentistry, and don’t just recite your personal statement. Make it feel real and current.
đź’¬ Pause > Panic. Silence is okay. If you need a moment to think, take it. Better to gather your thoughts than ramble.
đź‘€ Eye contact matters. Especially in-person or on Zoom be mindful of posture, expression, and how you present yourself.
❓ Be honest if you don’t know something. It's okay to say, “I’m not sure, but here’s how I’d approach it.” That shows maturity, not weakness.
🗂️ Review your application. Anything you wrote is fair game. Be ready to elaborate on your shadowing, experiences, or personal statement.
Quick story: One of our students kept saying “hmm” out loud while thinking — and the interviewer warned him to stop doing that. It’s okay to take a breath and think quietly. Just stay composed.
