Hey guys,
I took DAT the first time through and scored 17/18/17, AA/Sci/PAT a year ago.
After a year later, I had retake the exam and I scored 19/20/17 which I think is not really bad. I know I have to score at least 20 and up across since my gpa is sub 3.0. Do you guys think I should retake it one more time and up my scores in 20's? I am just too tired after working full-time to study but again i don't want to risk it. I have seen most SDN stats are stellar and I really need your advice. Thanks. 🙂

By sub 3.0, do you mean 2.95 or like 2.5X or below. It all depends on what your GPA is. Some schools could have considered you with your first DAT scores. Your second DAT scores are good IMHO. I would not take them again unless you GPA is less that 2.8-2.9. that's just my 2 cents. I hope that helped.

thanks ...boy, fortunately(?) I am >2.8 range. I have working experience in the dental school and I was waitlisted in UC schools last year. But I don't want to do that this year that is why i want to know if I should up my scores.

DAT is not your problem for your denials and waitlists. Since you got a 19, that is considered a competitive score by many dental schools. You'll need to take some upper division science courses or graduate level basic science courses at your local University. An academic year (two semesters) worth of classes should do the trick! Try to take at least two courses a semester minimally, 3 would be best (6 total)! Don't get "B-"s, minimium a "B".

Do not retake the DAT, unless you get 25s across the board, even a 3rd time 20/20 may not get you anywhere.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately i will not be able to take classes full-time since I have to work full-time. Do you think taking part-time will do the trick?
