Hi all,

I have an elective during third year that I want to use for Inpatient Medicine (since my program is weak in this area). Do any of you guys know of teaching hospitals who take visiting third years? I’m not locked down to any area - I’ll pretty much go anywhere.

I appreciate the Help! And feel free to PM me.

I would just look up university hospitals you're interested in. There's usually a section on visiting students -- ie if they take them, how to apply, general requirements, etc.

I believe most places take 4th years though. Also, if I were you, I would consider doing the away after you have more clinical experience (aka early 4th year as opposed to mid 3rd year) so you can perform well and get a good letter of rec.

I agree with Oso. Away rotations are usually reserved for 4th years. You are going to want to confer with your school on this as well, because if you try to do this elective without completing all of your core requirements as a third year, it may create problems for you in the future
