I think it depends on how much time and effort you have put into studying for the class. I have my organic final tomorrow and I have studied out the butt for it all semester. I am really stressed out, but yeah, I intend to pull an A out of that class. If I hadn't put so much time into it, I don't think I would deserve an A. So, I think it depends on how much effort you put into it and how much you have learned.

Was your friend right on the line between an A and a B? Was her prof one of those "I'm out to get you" like the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz kind of profs?

What is the average grade a pre-med makes in ochem anyway? I was very upset when I made a c+ in it, so I retook it.

Yeah, my ochem final is on wednesday. Im upset that ill only be able to get a b in that class, but then again, im upset with myself for not studying as much. i studied harder in gen chem. thats my only beef.

Because most OChem classes have a ****ed up grade distribution:
"My O-Chem Class averages back in 2001-02"
A's 10%
B's 15%
C's 50%
D-F's 25%

The tests were a bitch and a half, and you were damn lucky to get a B. Getting a high B, B+ afforded you the opportunity to ask the prof for a letter of rec. Not bad if you ask me. Also, the above distribution is with a shifted curve!!! And a generous one at that. O-Chem was like being bent over by a man-*****. You felt weak at the knees after each test.

Getting a B is Good. That is unless you go to a school where the averages are skewed in everyone's favor. Then you're just a tool to the system, and life will kick you in the head at some point in the future.

When I was in OChem I I got an 80% on the first test. We'd been having quizzes and I hadn't missed any points on those yet. I went to talk to the prof (I was a little upset, but I didn't go in crying or yelling or anything) and he laughed at me. Said "if that's the worst you do in my class you'll be fine."
(He was right.)

I've since learned the error of my ways. 😀
