I am ******ed so it took me a while to take DAT (took it in early July and score was sent on mid-July).

I called one of my top schools, and it told me they have already sent out all Pre-DEC interviews.

I have higher than the average stats (GPA, DAT, EC) of last yr incoming students. So I am trying to stay positive.

Yet realistically, everyone knows that Post-DEC interviews have a lot fewer seats available and its super duper competitive.

Let's say 3,000 applicants applied to a dental school. 450 of them got interviewed. And 100 are going there next year.

How many students of the 450 and the 100 do you think(or know) are Post-Dec interviewees???

Thanks a lot!!

Dang they have already sent them out? I have not even applied yet. Seems like it wont be worth it. I take my DAT sept 1.

Just try to make sure you apply to A LOT of schools. In a year from now, you won't be worried about this...you'll be worried about how in the world you'll pay all of your student loan debt back lol!

To answer your question more directly, I would venture to guess that 2/3 of them were pre-Dec interviews, or 1/3 post-Dec. interviews. This is a rough estimate though, some schools do it differently. What you can always do is email someone in admissions and ask this for a more accurate answer. They will most likely release this to you. Best of luck to you!

I will say that since you're in AZ (I used to live in Scottsdale)...Midwestern-AZ accepts almost all of their students at the December 1st release (probably closer to 85% or so, maybe a little higher). ASDOH accepts all the way through April.

I really don't think you should worry... I interviewed on Dec 19th and got accepted on Jan 4th and I can guarantee your stats are/were better than mine! Keep your head up!

Check out predents.com, you can obsess about all sorts of dental school statistics like I did. It's at least interesting to look at...

Stay confident and keep the faith (lol)!

Last year, my app wasn't in until October 22nd (didn't take my DAT until end of September 🙄 )...I received 4/9 interviews and was accepted to both of my top choices (USC and UCLA).

The quality of your application/letters of rec/personal statement, breadth of coursework/research/volunteering, your GPA and your DAT scores speak many volumes (more than WHEN you applied).

It's only the beginning of August, so you shouldn't worry!
(Seriously, don't worry, or else you will go crazy in the months to come)
