I just took my first Kaplan full-length MCAT. Here are some random thoughts/observations/questions.

- The PS section required more math than I expected, which contributed to me not having enough time for this section.

-I was able to answer a lot of PS questions without reading the passage (I had to do this because I was running out of time).

- There seemed to be an empasis on basic quantum mechanics stuff (photoelectric effect and absorption/emission). Also a lot of E&M.

- The verbal was deceptively easy. About half the people finished with 15 minutes left. I'd practiced primarily EK passages, and the Kaplan ones were very different. The passages were easy to understand. Although the questions themselves were sometimes tricky, the correct answers stood out with little ambiguity. Most of them could be answered simply by going back to a line in the passage. Maybe they were trying to make us feel confident, or Kaplan's verbal section is just written very differently from EK.

-A lot of questions on acid/base properties of organic molecules.

I bolded my thoughts.

Yeah, kaplan's PS is harder and off-scope.

When I took Kaplan 1, I didn't have the Kaplan conversion chart so I used an AAMC one. When Teerawit converted my raw to scaled scores using the Kaplan chart the PS went up 3 and verbal went down 2 while the BS stayed the same. That's a pretty good assessment of how the Kaplan compares to AAMC I think. PS was way harder (and I agree, tons of E&M). The Verbal was way easier. Hope that's alittle insight for you.
