So I've heard a few things and have done some research about good jobs for pre-med students and the first one that popped up was a medical scribe. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of medical scribes or has any thoughts/opinions on the whole idea.
Also, I'm open to any other advice for other jobs within the hospital/medical setting that would be helpful for a pre-med student just out of high school but also with an AA degree.

I found a job recently as a medical assistant for my gap year before medical school. The fun thing about being a medical assistant is that you get to actually do stuff (depending on where you work).

If you're looking for a job during your school year, EM scribe might be a good way to go, since the shifts are such that you could work around classes.

From what I understand, the scribe job might be a bit more passive and boring (less patient interactions, a lot of rote typing). I never actually was a scribe though, and I'm sure the level of excitement varies depending on where you work.

Whats an AA degree?honestly just out of high school? how about work in a lumber yard and make $20 an hour.

The clinical jobs I can come up with are Medical Assistant, EMT, CNA, Pharm Tech (not really clinical, vaguely related, though), and Surgery Tech.

I really don't understand why EMT and medical assistant and surg tech are always mentioned among these. You would be hard pressed to actually find any of those jobs without extensive training unless you are in a rural area..

I am definitely not living in a rural area. I found my job on Craig's list, and I actually am not even a certified medical assistant.

I even had two offers in the same week to be a medical assistant and was able to choose the one I liked.

Seriously, look at Craig's list. Apparently that's where lots of doctor's offices post these sorts of things.
