Calcitonin is made in thyroid gland. It is not a thyroid hormone. The two thyroid hormones that you need to worry about is (Thyroid hormone, parathyroid hormone) on DAT.

It is not controlled by TSH. I think its controlled by calcium levels.

p.s. It's actions are inverse of parathyroid hormone.

It is produced by the parafollicular cells of the thyroid hormone.

Edit: I guess not controlled by TSH.

Thyroid and parathyroid don't have opposing effects. Thyroid hormone (t3 & t4) regulate metabolism. They are controlled by tsh released from the pituitary and they are created in the thyroid. Parathyroid is made by parathyrpid glands. Parathyroid takes calcium from bones to increase the concentration in the blood. Calcitonin does the opposite, adding calcium back to the bones.

And calcitonin and parathyroid hormones are not thyroid hormones.

Yes you are right. Sry bout earlier post. However i did mean that calcitonin and parathyroid hormones act inversely of each other with regards to calcium regulation.
