The AMCAS web site currently [i.e., on July 18] displays a banner that says "AMCAS is currently marking transcripts that arrived on July 10th, 2007." The AMCAS FAQs on Application Processing state that "AMCAS verification processing can take up to 4-6 weeks from the time that your application and all required official transcripts are received, and can take significantly longer during peak processing times" and that "When your application and all transcripts are on file, AMCAS verifies your course work against your official transcripts".
Is "marking" a transcript the same thing as "verifying" course work (in which case the 4-6 week verification estimate seems very high)? Or is marking merely the recordation of the receipt of the transcript (and it takes about 8 days to shift thru the incoming stack), which must then be followed by verification (which takes an additional 4-6 weeks)?
I guess my main question is if I submitted an application to AMCAS on July 11 and my transcripts were received by AMCAS on July 11, would I expect my app to be verified around July 19 or around August 23 (give or take)?
