Hey yall, this is a question for all those who already taken the PCATS or know about the timing of each PCAT section. I have the Kaplan and Barrons PCAT study guide but their given time for each section is very different. Kaplan has 30 min for verbal, bio and chem and 45 for reading comp and math. Barrons has 30 for verbal, 45 for bio, chem, reading comp and math. I was just wondering what is the exact time they give for each section of the PCATs. Thanks in advance!!!

FYI, I spoke with a pharmacy rep from Harcourt and she said that on test day, each PCAT section is given randomly. Can anyone confirm this?

The chemistry and math sections were both difficult to finish. Especially the math. There was never a time when I felt I needed a calculator in either subject. Just pay attention to how much time is left as you are going... Good luck!

I have never taken the PCAT before and I have a few questions for those that have taken it recently.

Does anyone know if digital wristwatches (that beep) or analog watches are allowed on the testing room?

Does the proctor notify testers of the amount of time remaining in each section?

Is extra scratch paper given out?

When are breaks given and how long are each?

If anyone has this information, I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't think watches that beep are allowed (may be distracting to other test-takers), but a watch that doesn't make noise is perfectly acceptable.

At my testing center, we were notified when there were 5 minutes remaining, but there were no warnings other than that.

No, there is no extra scratch paper given out. There is some space for working your problems underneath each question but not a lot. I write pretty large, so I was struggling with that, lol.

I believe the break was given after then Math section??? but don't take my word for it, continue to ask around.

HTH! 🙂

it is sad because math and chem were the only sections that i finished with time to spare. then again, i did mis-number my reading comp section and have to go back. 🙁 i did good though.
