Time It Takes to Process and Receive Shelf NBME Results

Hi All,

I am taking an NBME shelf exam pretty soon. My school coordinator who purchased the shelf exam informed me that it takes a week to receive NBME exam scores. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is true? One of my friends who recently took a shelf informed me she received the results on the same day, so I find my administrator's claim highly suspect. Wanted some clarification - any info would be appreciated, thanks!

who cares? it takes forever for clinical comments to come back anyway so getting the shelf result back in a day vs a month makes little difference

It's a remediation exam for a pre-clinical class. If I pass it I don't have to take the summer class. The deadline for the summer class sign-up is a week and two days from the exam -- the administrator claimed this amount of time was needed for the exam score to be processed. Basically, I think the administrator is misinformed and I would like more time to study for the exam since I am taking it in a few days and could use the extra time to study.
