Ok so I going to be a junior this next year and just wanted to make sure I understood the timeline so I didn't miss anything.

This coming year I am taking my anatomy and physics I and II so I was going to take the test date in May for the MCAT. Does this mean I should start on my primary app prior to my test date or after. I was also interested in applying early decisions for the University of Kentucky's MD school. On their website it says that the primary for that is in August, so does that mean that I should have plenty of time to get my MCAT scores back and submit my primary. I am not trying to skip a year between undergrad and med school if at all possible so just trying to check my understanding.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I also meant to ask if I applied to early decision I that would prevent me from applying to any other MD schools until I hear back, however would that prevent me from applying to DO schools at the same time. It was just a thought and know that it may not be a traditional question but some insight would be much appreciated.

i dont kno anything about early decision

however you should consider the fact that your mcat scores will not be released until a month later. Since your taking it in May, that means you won't find out until June. its during this time most people start looking at the primary app and filling it out since most people try to aim for a June or early July submission date. you should consider the possibility, however, of doing poorly on the MCAT. in that case, it could screw up all your plans since you won't have much time to study and retake the MCAT before you apply. you would have to make the difficult decision of either applying with the scores you have or waiting till next year.

fortunately, the primary app itself doesn't take too long to fill out except for the personal statement. That takes the longest time but you can work on that anytime you want since it just basically asks you why you want to be a doctor and why you think you would be good at it. if you're dedicated enough, you can use the time now during the summer to start working on it.

as a side note, i wouldn't take anatomy if you haven't taken physiology already. anatomy is not very helpful on the MCAT while physiology is.
