Time of Match Results Email

Hey guys,

Just wondering, based on prior years, what time exactly do the emails go out on Friday? I know they say 1PM, but I've also heard 12PM.

I believe it's school dependent. From my understanding, if your school decides to independently tell their students at noon they can, otherwise you'll have to wait until 1pm for the official nrmp email.

I see. Is it true that our school will know on Thursday (given the match calendar info on the nbme website). Why don't we get our results then?

Yes. Schools get the information at 8am. It gives them time to print the letters (or do whatever they do to notify students on Friday, this year more likely email if anything) and create their class match list. SOAP is still ongoing at that point so that needs to be finished as well. I think the reasoning is a little tenuous but it is what it is.

This recent email the NRMP sent out says it will be at 12:00 PM EDT, which is an hour earlier than normal.
