Just curious, how much time does your school let you have off during your third and fourth years?

I think that we get quite a bit, but we can choose to not take it and do more rotations. Sc**w that, I'm taking vacation 😎 !

We didn't get any time off during the third year as far as vacation went, other than Christmas break. 😡

However, we will get 11 weeks during our fourth year, which is meant to be used to study for boards and interviewing. I plan to take the month of July off to study for Step 2 CK and CS. Two of those 11 weeks include Christmas break, when there are no clerkships.

We get 4 weeks total out of a 52-week third year. 2 weeks at xmas and 2 other weeks at random times depending on our individual schedules.

We make little distinction between 3rd year and 4th year, though most people take most of their required rotations in the 3rd year. In years 3-4 we have about 102 weeks (not counting the ~4 weeks off we get at the end of year 2 to prep for boards), of which we must be on rotations for 76 weeks; 56 weeks are required rotations and 20 (minimum) are elective. We can take up to 85 weeks total. This leaves us with 17 (min) to 26 weeks (max) of vacation. We also get 0.5 days/week excused absence for interviewing and taking Step II CS/CK, and University holidays off.
