Doing this in terms of hours is a bad choice. It would be better off if you did the unit as weeks.

People really study that much? 300 hours is 2 straight months of 5 hours every day...that's a lot.

For reference, one week contains 196 hours.

Wait...we were supposed to study for the MCAT?! 😱

Jokes aside...I didn't study as much as I should have and my MCAT reflects that... 😳

The average MCAT taker gets an average score. What you should ask is how much do the 32+ people study.

Ah, Ignoratio elenchi.

Strong coincidence?

brb google Ignoratio elenchi
brb click wikipedia link
brb example uses "Nick Naylor"
brb Nicky Naylor (aka ColeontheRoll) got a 41 on his mcat

(24 hours) (7) = 168 hours
Maybe he was trying to use the expression "I go for the 110%!" but in terms of a week. With 116.66%, it kind of supports this, "I do the ~110% of the week"...

/morning math 😴

Why does it matter? I studied 10x as much as my friend, I beat him by one point.

Roughly estimated, I probably studied just under 300 hours (288 was the number I got after a very simplified calculation). My roommate, on the other hand, probably broke well over 350 only to make in the mid 20's on the first one. After taking it a 3rd time, he got a 30. Overall, I would say he put in around 7-800 hours. Not joking. Not being sarcastic. But hey, he's going to school this fall, and he'll be "Dr. Roommate" in four years just like I'll be "Dr. Ursa."

By the end of the summer I'll have ~140 hours. Originally I was planning on taking the MCAT right at the end of the summer but it looks like I'm postponing it until I take some more bio classes. I'll have another 50 hours of studying completed by the time I take the MCAT in December.

I personally didn't know you could study for it until I was interviewing, but, of my classmates who have discussed it (n=12), I think the average was around 250 hours (MCAT 30-38 for this sample).

I think it's not the time you spend (down to a certain minimum) as much as what else you're doing at the time. I think if I'd done it over the summer I'd have score a couple points higher. I prepped when I was extremely busy. That said, I probably did about ~150 (10hrs/week x 16 weeks). Yes, I know this multiplies to 160 but it's hard to do every week the same 😳.

I probably studied around 100 hours, but likely less. I think I could have gotten a higher score if I'd studied more, though.
