Quick question for those who have received or been involved in K08 / K23 award receipt. The table below is an example timeline for one such award

New Date.........................Resubmission........................AIDS....................................Review.....................Advisory Council........Earliest Start Date
February 12, 2025......March 12, 2025..............May 07, 2025...............July 2025............October 2025...........December 2025

If you get a fundable score and your grant is recommended for funding at the AC, how flexible the start date? They list an "earliest start date" but not a "latest". Specifically, I am wondering about delaying the start of the award. Reasons for doing so might include: a) still having another 6 months - 1 year of residency/fellowship training left, b) choosing to pursue a 1 year clinical fellowship, etc? It seems that the ideal case would be to activate your K immediately after completion of your final year or clinical training in July, but difficult to always align your submission with that date.

Resubmission also seems quite common- could you submit a first application that would end up with an 'earliest start date' (as per table above) in July the year prior to completion of your clinical training? The expectation of resubmission is there, but if you happen to get a great score on the first round, could you delay the NoA to allow for your final year of clinical training and then activate immediately upon completion?
