Hi
I am looking for some advice. I recently completed undergrad from the University of Western Ontario in Canada and am curious about timelines for American Adcoms. My GPA is 3.9 but my MCAT (second try) is 26 with above average ECs. I am attempting the MCAT again in early September, planning to send out my primary at most a week after completion (verified hopefully by early Oct) and am curious as a Canadian, do I stand a chance of any interviews having my secondaries sent in by mid October, with a hypothetical third Mcat score of 28-30?

Thanks for any insight

This belongs in pre-allo and will no doubt be moved shortly, but what the hell, I'm feeling nostalgic.

As long as you meet the deadlines, there's always a chance. That said:

1) Earlier is always better. Some schools make a point of giving equal credence regardless of when the application was turned in, others will fill their rosters ASAP while gladly taking your secondary fees long after they're done. Best case scenario, you're looking at a lot more waitlists than otherwise would be the case, which can be a real pain for more reasons than I want to get into here.

2) Rushing an application, as it seems like you might be doing, tends to degrade the quality. Is your personal statement ready? Transcripts sent to AMCAS? Recommendations ready? Have you started working on secondaries (most schools reuse questions from previous years, you can often find them online or through your pre-med office). Basically, are you ready to go besides your MCAT, or are you pushing everything back? The latter is a classic setup to a very half-a%*ed application and a lot of wasted fees.

It's up to you, ultimately. If you don't mind risking the fees, and don't mind dealing with waitlists, and understand that you may be trading in a better option to get in a year earlier, go for it.
