Hey guys, I'm rather new here and this is my first post. My question is regarding my timetable of taking the DAT. I am scheduled to take it the 12th of March, but I'm looking at pushing it back a month. I've basically received a mixed bag of results on my practice test, so I figure a month more of preparation should solidify any loose ends (It will also give me Spring Break to gather remaining resources that I've noticed have helped people on these forums). I'm taking 18 hours this semester of all science courses, so I haven't had as much time as I've wanted to dedicate to DAT studying.

By pushing it back a month, it would still give me a retake chance in early-mid July.

What do you guys think? Should I stick to the date, or possibly not need a retake and save ~$300?

Nobody can really answer this but yourself. You said you didn't feel ready, so maybe you should trust your gut and push your test back. It's a good idea to have a Plan B, but definitely don't take it the first time just to take it. You want to do well the first time, so don't treat it like a trial.

I took my DAT once -- July 30, 2012, applied the next day, was invited to a number of interviews, and accepted to many schools. If you don't have enough time to study during the semester (I sure didn't), then definitely take it over the summer.
