i JUST (i know, very late) retook the DATs, but sent my application in at the beginning of the cycle with my old crappier scores and didn't mention that I was going to retake. My newer scores will help my chances I think-
PAT 20
QR 18
RC 26
Bio 26
O chem 22
chem 19
Ts 22
AA 22

BUT this is really late in the cycle. I faxed my scores to schools that would accept it, but do you think that considering the time the other schools will be getting my scores (three, four, five weeks) its going to be too late to influence schools on whether to invite me to interview?

you're fine. although there are schools that are almost full now, there are also plenty that are not. if your gpa is also as strong as your dat scores, i don't see why you shouldn't get interviews within the next few months. just make sure every school knows that you retook and that they received your new scores. scores only take a few weeks to get downloaded, so if you have everything else in, then you should be re-reviewed in no time. good luck!

great scores! do you mind sharing your strategy for RC? you have one of the highest scores i've seen so far on that section (i think i saw another 26 and a 30), so i'd like to know how you did it. i am thinking about taking the DAT over, and would like to go up in RC (currently have an 18).

thanks,

I think I mostly just got really lucky for reading comprehension- I got the easiest passages ever. I didn't practice like at all for it- but I used Kaplan's strategy for reading. I read once through the passage and wrote a down a few key words for each paragraph that will help remind you what is in the paragraph with what number paragraph it was. That way when you go through questions you can look at your "road map" (thats what kaplan calls it) and see what number passage your answer might be in. It sucks because every time you go to the next question the passage automatically scrolls up to the beginning no matter where you were. So it helps to have a reminder of what is in each paragraph so you can scroll back down to where it is without having to search. Does that make sense? It helped a lot. Just don't forget to cap your pen after you write your road map because it will dry out and then your screwed. 🙂 it happened to me last time I took that stupid test.

Hey good job, congrats on the great score.

I am actually studying for my DAT again, and re-taking it. I was wondering if you could break down each section like what materials you used, and how long you studied for? I would really appreciate it. Thanks once again, goodluck with the getting in D-School
