Hi...I was wondering what the timing of applications to osteopathic schools is? For allopathic schools, it's June 1st AMCAS, get admitted sometime within the next year to enter in September of the following year. How does the osteopathic process work? I wish to enter if possible in September 2005. Thanks

the d.o. school schedule is about the same as for the m.d.....but for further reference, check the www.aacom.org website, it gives deadlines for all the schools' aacomas, secondaries, lor's, etc. hope that helped!

It's a little late in the cycle to begin the primary AACOMS application now. The primary application is closed for some schools, and it takes a while to verify and send out the primaries for evaluation by the schools which in turn will send you a secondary to fill out.

The number one lesson I have learned and what everyone tells me is TO APPLY EARLY!!!

There's still hope, but you have to be a competitive applicant since the schools are more selective towards the end of the cycle since they have to ration their seats since there are only a few open spots left.

camisho,

You said that you wanted to enter med school in September 2005? If you apply now, you will be applying for August/September 2004. If you are wanting to apply for September 2005, you should wait until June 1, 2004 to submit your AMCAS and AACOMAS application. You may have meant to type 2004, but I thought that I would mention it to you .

I saw your stats on another post, so I think you would have a good application. But if you want to go this year, it is necessary that you get your applicaton in NOW. The earlier the better. You greatly improve your chances of getting in when you apply early.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.
