Hey everyone!

So I'm wondering, how long should you spend on each respective subsection (or what are the times you should aim for?)

Here's how I'm doing so far:

-Angle: 7-10 mins
-Cube: 7-10 mins
-Hole punch: 10-20 mins
-Pattern: 15-25 mins
-Keyholes: 20-25 mins
-TFE: (still working on it, so haven't done a set of 15 yet, but it would probably take me a while)

I feel that TFE and Keyholes are my hardest/ longest, although I'm getting better at keyholes and patterns, so I could probably reduce the times.

What breakdown should I have for these, including if TFE/ Keys are my hardest? Could I get away with 20 minutes each on keyholes/ TFE?

any advice helps..thanks!!

Also if it helps, I have been using generators only for hole punch and cubes- does generator/ practice test have a significant effect on how your times vary?

You're going to have to do faster than 20 mins for keyhole and TFE or elSe you will find yourself with only 20 minutes to do 60 problems in the other sections.

Angles should be quickest and for myself cube counting then pattern folding.

I think you could get away with 15 mins for keyhole and TFE (a min a question) leaving you half the time for the other sections but that would be cutting it close if you are slow on hole punch.

And also, how's the difficulty of the actual exam compared to bootcamps exams?

I haven't taken the DAT yet so take everything I say with a lump of salt. But I heard actual pat is slightly easier. My timing is longer than I need it to be at the moment.

i went in there assuming pat would be easier than bootcamp (because that seems to be the general consensus on all sections) but got blown apart during the actual exam

relative difficulty seems to be totally random

Yeah I guess it has to vary since every other section does. Do you have any tips on increasing speed on sections?

dont settle and think that once you start getting 20's that you can completely forget about the section. do a bootcamp exam every day and run through the generators until your exam date. the extra time on other sections helped me score great on academic subjects, but I would trade a point on my AA for a couple PAT points

Would you say focus more on the exams or generators (or both) to replicate similarity or difficulty?

Can anyone else chime in on roughly how much time each section should take? Also are taking bootcamp practice tests good practice for starting out? I seem to always run out of time on at least one section.

hole punch should take you 5-8 mins tops: by far THE easiest section.

I agree (if only all the questions were as easy as the ones in this video lol) but the ones I've encountered on bootcamp practice exams seem to be much harder. Specifically the ones with multiple half holes and/or folding into the page rather than out. Questions like these make the hole punching section take longer than expected. Seems like practice is the only way to get better though.
