Hi.

I suffer from Tinnitus. I'm not sure how long I've suffered from it, because I've just gradually become aware of it over the past 2-3 years. I have it in the form of a constant ringing in my ears, in which consisting of one global tone in both ears, and a slightly lower-pitched tone (probably in the region of 1kHz or there-abouts) in my right ear. I generally forget about it during the day, but when I'm laying in bed at night, I become aware of it.

Over the past few months or so, my ears, generally speaking, have been okay (besides the Tinnitus, of course). But, every so often one of them will cloud over a bit (mainly my left ear) due to a wax build-up. I obviously don't want to stick cotton-buds down there, so I went and bought some Otex ear drops.

I got home and read the leaflet, and it states that sufferers of Tinnitus shouldn't use them. It doesn't give any reason as to why, so this is exactly my question.

What will Otex do to somebody suffering with Tinnitus? Will it make it worse? And, if so, why will it do this?

I haven't used the Otex drops yet, since I'm cautious of doing so. On a side-note, I'm a male and only 20 years of age, if that matters at all.

If there are any specialists here, then suggestions on a cure for Tinnitus (which I'm pretty sure doesn't exist... yet), or at least some tips on treatments that will maybe help to reduce it. From what I understand, it's merely nerve impulses in my brain producing the tones, and so I guess this is exactly why it is so hard to treat.

Thank you for your time, and any knowledge that you can share on this.
