I was wondering if there are any general DAT tips before the exam that you would like to share. I'm taking my DAT in less than 2 days and greatly appreciate any tips for any section. 🙂 Thank you.
my best advice: take as many computerized, timed practice tests as you can without burning yourself out. you can know all the material and still do poorly if you're not comfortable with the format.
I would briefly (~30 seconds) skim through the passage you are on to get the most general idea of what it's about and any major subtopics within it. Sorta to get your bearings.
Then go to the questions. The first couple will take slightly longer since you haven't figured out where everything is located within the passage. When you do each question try to read a couple sentences around it to see what's going on. If you do this for a few questions you should have a large chunk of the passage read by the time you get to maybe #6 or 7.
I found that reading each passage at the start made no sense because (a) it took forever and (b) I didn't remember it when I began the questions.
