I was hoping to get a thread started of tips for those of us making the transition to internship this year. For those who've been through it - What works, what doesn't, what wonderful words of wisdom do you have? For those who are incoming this year, what are some of your thoughts?

Cheers :luck:

From my friend (who's currently on internship): Expect to work a lot more than advertised. Her site estimated about 43-46 hours a week, but she regularly puts in 55-60 hours a week, not counting work she takes home.

This can be cut down by talking to current interns when you're applying. Some sites really will tell you to go home at 5.

I've been matched at a VA, where they apparently kick you out at 4:30. And it's a no-no to bring patient info off site. Other places I interviewed I could totally see the hours being more than they advertised.
