im taking the gre in a few months. i took a practice test and didnt do too well. my question is how did you guys study for the gre? are those kaplan/princeton classes helpful? my biggest problem seems to be verbal so any tips would be appreciated! thanks!!

I think on my first GRE practice test I got something around an 1100. I wound up getting a 1490 on the real thing, so take heart! To practice vocab, I highly recommend carrying around the Kaplan GRE "Vocabulary in a Box" cards - they cost about $15 and are very transportable. I used to pull them out of my purse to study while I took public transportation, etc. Also, take lots of practice tests! I think I took about 6 (which you can get online and in a study book - I used Barron's), and it is a big help in terms of timing, format, and content. It is much more do-able if you set out to do one or two per weekend up until the test - just make a schedule and stick to it! Best of luck!

Hello General! I am preparing for the GRE, and the verbal section is a thorn in my shoe!!!
Can the kaplan GRE "Vocabulary in a box" cards be downloaded from the net? If yes can I have the link?

Hi Medico,

Not that I know of ... I just bought the box at a store. Sorry!
