I took my test last monday and prometric center was very helpful. I thought it would be nice to give you guys heads up on selecting testing center location and the process.

1. Ask for ear plugs when u take the test instead of using the big headphone looking things hanging next to the desk. The center i went to (SF downtown) had brand new and very comfortable ear plugs to give out to test takers for free.
2. Do not sit next to the door or another test taker who is writing an essay (ex, gre). Key stroking will annoy the hell out of you. I actually sat next to one, but I had ear plugs on 🙂.
3. Make an appointment at a downtown area. My friend took it at the testing center located at less crowded area of SF (California St.) last year, and got a CRT monitor with ball mouse. I got a 17"-19" LCD monitor (don't remember exact size), and an optical scroll wheel mouse. I am not sure how angle ranking is displayed on other systems, I found mine to be all smoothed like AA effect.
4. Don't take a big bag, the locker is tiny. 1ftx1ftx1ft

feel free to add more

GOOD LUCK GUYS!

Mr. T just told me to stay in schoo, I imagine that helps. I pity da foo who drop outta schoo. Another thing, resist the temptation to huff the markers.

Pretty cool, thanks for the info man. I did not know we could ask for earplugs. The only prometric center near me uses old 90's computers with giant monitors as I've been told from a friend who took an accounting test there. Its the only center around too.......oh well. My labtop now is a flat screen...so I hope i'm not falsly preparing for PAT by using my labtop🙁

When you go on your 15 break after the PAT, can you go back to your locker? Can you take food/water to your computer?

yeh, you can go back to your locker. They make you sign in and out whenever u leave your chair. So make sure you don't take the full 15 minute break time. take like 13 min one haha... 1 min each to sign in and out. Those prometric staffs can take quiet a time to sign you in or out.

No, you can't take water or food to the computer. if you do, they will disqualify you. 🙁

for PAT, the angle ranking does NOT have jagged edges anymore, it looks more like kaplan ones (not achiever or topscore).

man i totally forgot to check about my sites monitors

my test date is on the 7th...if i need to switch can I...or have I run out of time? I know they have a 2 business day reschedule policy, but does that just mean u pay extra if you reschedule, or u cant reschedule at all?

Hm... I believe there is a rule that examinees are not allowed to open their locker again until the end of test. My testing center must receive some kinda award for their strictness.
Anyways, although it seems that rules are there to be broken at some centers, you never know if your testing centers have one of the strict proctors. Just follow the instructions once you get there.

How do you check the monitor?
Is there website for information about specific test center?

I remember my Kaplan instructor mentioning that its a good idea to visit your testing center before the exam.

Just drop by for a visit to get a better idea.
