need advice on this folks.
I have watched many vids on this and even tried Ari's (DATbootcamp) method etc but no success, this section is killing my PAT score.

if anyone could help me with this or give any innovative ways to tackle this, I would be very greatful

Hole punching was by far my best and most consistent section in the PAT, so I'll try my best to help you.

Here are a couple of things I try to do:

1) Realize that whenever you see something fold/unfold in half it is going to make a mirror image of the punches. Rather than me drawing crappy pictures in Paint this video might be a better illustration of what I'm talking about (skip to about a minute in).

2) If there is more than one hole being punched at a time, try and follow one hole throughout the entire unfolding of the piece of paper and eliminate choices that you know are incorrect. For example, if there are two holes punched into the paper and you follow one throughout the unfolding to the top right corner use that information to try and eliminate an answer or two.

3) Sometimes, if you've eliminated a couple of answers it's easier to work backwards from the answers. For example, if a hole being punched in the bottom left corner of an answer makes absolutely no sense then you might be able to eliminate that one.

I saw this thread and on my breakdown included two awesome videos of line of symmetry that I wish were more well known. Go check them out and practice with bootcamp generator! It will be the easiest section after.
