Hello everyone! I'm wondering if anyone has good tips for mastering the PAT section of the DAT. For some reason I find it pretty hard and I would love some pointers about how to grasp the idea! Thanks!

the best tip i could give is not to waste too much time on the angles section. that might not apply to you if you're good at telling them apart, but that was my weakest area of the PAT so i didn't let myself get hung up on it.

for me, the more time left for box folding, the better.

good luck!

did you do CDP? i got 10 tests, first got 18, 19 for two tests than 23, 24+ after that!
it is all about practice
i always get like 15-20minutes to spare at the end of CDP practice tests.
i guess for hole punching, i always draw the 4x4 small table, and draw out which one will have holes and just compare it to the answers..
i guess the rests are just practice practice practice!
comparing to studying science, it is actually getting fun! i love PAT section the most..

thanks guys! I guess I'll get Crack DAT PAT; it seemed a little pricey but if it's worth it ill definitely get it! 🙂

The top, back, end view questions are the hardest for me! it just doesn't seem to make sense!

The best tip I can give you is to not waste your time on achiever and top score. They are too difficult and are nowhere near as hard as the DAT. You will just be wasting your time. Practice with the 2007 DAT and KBB. They are very similar to the real thing. With cube counting, go through and tally the cubes first. Don't try to count as you go or memorize. You are increasing your risk of making mistakes on one of the easier sections of the PAT.

which CDP would you recommend?
(ace, king, royal... etc)

The 10 test version is sufficient imo. The 5000 extra questions is ridiculous and those q-types aren't that difficult imo (well angles are but you can practice till you're 50 and you'll still only confidently get 80% of these correct).

CDP is the best, do a test at normal time to help pace yourself, then go through the same test again disabling the time. It helps you get to grips with how to properly approach questions. The solutions are excellent too so if anything isn't clear you can EASILY find out where you missed the question. TFE is really challenging initially, but it gets pretty easy with enough practice.
