As of 8:00 am this morning (May 1st 2012) the application for TMDSAS is open. Good luck to everyone and post any questions about the application and any suggestions. thank y'all

Goodluck to you all!! Texas dental schools FTW!! Make sure y'all get those apps turned in ASAP!! (but only if you've checked it multiple times over and again) 😀

Hi guys, I'm looking over the pre-reqs and it says that 14 semester hours of biology is required. Is that equivalent to 4 biology classes?

If we have not previously applied to Texas Dental schools using the TMDSAS application system, but have applied to other dental schools, do we absolutely have to tell the schools we have applied to other schools before??? What are the disadvantages and advantages of telling them? If we don't tell them, is there any way of them finding out?

The reason I am asking, is because I did send applications with an average 20AA and a 3.79 GPA, but my applications went in too late in (applied in October, but wrote DAT in December so score was not received by January). All the schools I applied to (and was not admitted to) are telling me that my application was late...

so what do you guys think?? I'm sure the RIGHT thing to do is just say I have applied before to other schools, but I don't want schools to think I was not admitted because I am a poor applicant...

Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is tell them. If you're invited for an interview then you'll be able to explain that you applied late etc etc. It should not affect you application in a negative way.

You have a great GPA and a good DAT (I don't know the breakdown of you DAT is but a 20AA is good).

hey guys,
I wasn't planning on doing the optional essays but now I'm not so sure. If I do one of them that would push back submitting my app ~1 week. is it worth it? or just stick with the required one?

also, planning on doing a masters program but I have not been accepted yet. can i still include it in my app?

I was going to write my optional essay about working alongside my dad at our store and learning the importance of working hard and treating customers/patients like people and friends rather than business transactions. I'm just not so sure which optional essay this would be better for. Any thoughts?

has anyone submitted their app yet?

I probably won't be able to get my DAT scores (taking May 13th) and my letters of rec in until mid June probably? Is that considered late? I'm trying to get one of my professor's to write me a LOR but he's the department head and I don't think I gave him enough time. I asked him a few days ago since I can now access the stupid forms that they have to send with the letter and he's written me one before for grad school but has not responded yet for dental school. Probably because he's insanely busy with the end of the school year. Any advice?
