So I have browsed SDN for about a year or so now learning about the application process and what not. I have a question and want some feedback either from current applicants or successful applicants.
I am considering writing about my experience as a father and husband during undergrad as a special experience. I am 21 years old, so while I am not exactly a non-trad, I am sure that most traditional students wouldn't be able to provide great feedback on this area. Since I am younger than most fathers and have had to work full-time to support my family and have still been very successful with my studies and mcat, I want my hard work and dedication to medicine to be seen by the adcoms. I have also seen posts where people say this is a bad idea because more often than not adcoms see kids and spouses as tie-downs when comparing to a single guy/girl. I dont want this to hinder my app, So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Also just for clarification, This essay is going towards my special experiences part of TMDSAS not my PS, my PS doesnot mention my wife or child.

You can use your early fatherhood and responsibility towards wife and child as a sign of maturity compared to others in your age group. So as long as you can show that despite this you have been successful in your studies, that's maturity and it cannot be held against you but for you.
Hope this helps.
