Hey folks,

I have an interview coming up in a few weeks - did anyone sit in on classes or do anything besides the general tour? It seems like a pretty short day, only 11:45-1:30. I want to be sure to get a really good feel for the school. I'm pretty sure it's my top choice, so I want to confirm that. Let me know what you all think/though.

sitting in on a class was pretty uneventful. it was just a lecture, not too different than what you'd probably see in undergrad. what i did on my off time was to just walk around the area and get a feel for the place... i mean walk around the 2 block radius. don't do that at night though... i think it's pretty safe but who knows what can happen.

maybe you can try to get a student host and ask him/her a lot of questions. if you get lucky maybe s/he will take you out and you can meet more of the students in their non-academic setting.

I hear from a friend that the lunch is pretty bad though...but I'm sure you will do awesome! Especially if they ask you about epithelium....mmmm laryngeal juice 😉

uh yeah, the lunch is terrible if you're vegetarian. i had watermelon and baked lays...and my tour guide/student was in a big hurry so we basically ate standing up. my honest opinion on the day: not the most well-organized interview schedule. you're pretty much on your own; they told us to be there at 11:45 (i got there at 10:00...) but nothing actually started until 1:00. the tour guide seemed really nervous for some reason, like he was trying to impress us. i did really like the school and had a lovely interviewer--she was so sweet. honestly bard didn't strike me as that bad but the surroundings (and the subway station) did seem sketchy. maybe this was just my experience. also there wasn't any presentation about the school or formal student panels or finaid presentations...it just seemed like they weren't really trying to go out of their way to sell the school which can be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. let's see, i think i answered more than you wanted to hear. but no i didn't sit in on the classes to answer your question....

I went to two lectures with the second years, and I went to the AMWA breakfast VERY early in the morning. If you're a woman, look into that. A great way to gain more perspective on the school.
