So I've had tons of jobs of the non-medical, super boring variety - should I put them all in to fill various gaps? or leave out unnecessary stuff? (retail, data entry - all post college)

Also - for any RPCV, where did you/would you put you 2 years of Peace Corps Experience? "volunteer" or "work experience"?

thanks!

I put in long-term jobs that would show some aspect of my personality or life that I wanted them to know. For instance, I waited tables full-time while attending school full-time. So, I wanted to include that. Even though it isn't a medical experience it shows that I was responsible for all of my expenses at a young age. In addition, I did it for 15 years so it shows dedication and commitment.

It also depends on how much you have on your app. If you need to show that you can deal with a wide variety of personality types, you might want to include retail work. If you are just adding stuff for the sake of adding stuff, it will be obvious.

A lot of this process is spin. 😉

Paying jobs in work experience, non-paying jobs in volunteer.

I think so. Also list any jobs your mom made you do in grade school. 😛

May 1980 - Dec 1980
Removed household clutter per instruction of immediate supervisor. Allocated valuable electrical resources to aid in personal enrichment via habitual software use.

I'd vote for putting the Peace Corps as a work experience because you received a stipend, and it really was a fulltime job. However, I wouldn't sweat it because the schools will figure it out anyway.

I would list any jobs that would typically be included on my resume/CV.

I am non trad. 6+ years out of school. I also bartended my way through undergrad and part of post bac. I have had many medically relevant experiences since then, but I think it is improtant for the same reasons mentioned above. I worked full time (sometimes more) while carrying more than a full load of credits. I want a balance, but I don't want to cut out something relevant to put in VIP Bartendress, Club Philly 1996-2003.

I'm a bit older and was not able to fit all my job and volunteer experiences on the application. I do agree it's good to show broad experience, though.
