To ONTARIO APPLICANTS. How are W’s viewed in OMSAS?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is an American forum, there are only a few Canadian applicants here. If you want to ask a Canadian pre-med forum (and get people's opinions who aren't me) go to premed101.com

Generally OMSAS is very formulaic (unlike the much more holistic AMCAS) so Ws aren't included in your GPA and that's that. If you have a ton of them it's possible that you'd be asked about them in a panel interview, but for a school that uses the MMI style it likely wouldn't ever come up. Ws can affect whether you're considered full-time though, and can affect wGPA calculations like UofT's that drops your worst mark each semester only if you take 5 classes/semester throughout your entire degree.

This was very helpful, and good news. Thank you.
