if I take biochemistry over the summer I am done with undergrad but if not than I was planning to take biochemistry fall semester with another upper level biology class. I have W bio 1 lecture W bio 1 lab, W bio 1 lecture, W bio 1 lab, W Ochem 1, and W ochem lab. Those are my only withdrawals plus one more Calc 2 so 7 W’s. All my bio withdrawals were freshman year and ochem sophomore year. I took bio 1 fall senior year which is this year for me B lecture, A lab, currently in bio 2 on pace A for lecture, A or A- for lab, ochem 1 and 2 lecture and lab all A’s took junior year! Also currently studying for mcat trying to apply for fall 2019 cycle if I can’t get mcat in before mid July at latest than apply for 2020 cycle but ideally trying for 2019 cycle. What should I do take biochemistry in summer or take another fall semester biochemistry with another upper level biology class?

Just take it in the summer and do well, and focus hard on your MCAT studying.

I assume there are reasons for these Ws that you can explain well on your application?

If I took it in a fall semester with another upper level wouldn’t that look more impressive to adcoms than biochemistry in summer? Ya the reason not putting in the time on a daily basis each day

i took mine in the summer, and honestly I'm glad I did. My major also required biochem 2, so I was able to squeeze it in before the MCAT as opposed to taking in this semester. it was quicker pace so study hard and don't fall behind. there were times where I felt like I couldn't handle the pressure and the massive load of material, but I do not regret it at all. Plus, I took such a firm leap of faith, it always helps me out 😉.

Plan out an outline of an advanced scheduled and see which classes would end up taking together. For example, had I not be done with biochem 2, I would have been in Biomedical Anatomy and Biochem (ew), but rather I have an easier combo (anatomy and genetics): just something to consider.

good luck on your studies

I took biochem over summer. If you take it be prepared to REALLY study for it. We would do at least 2 chapters per lecture in my class.

What about adcoms frowing upon taking pre req like biochemistry over summer especially in my circumstances? Also wouldn’t it look better if I took biochemistry with another upper level biology class compared to just biochemistry in summer? Again especially in my circumstance

I'm in the same situation. I think taking it in the summer has the benefit of getting things over with, yet taking it in the fall has the benefit of expanding out the course for things to go smoother. Honestly I don't think it'd be a bad idea to take it in the fall with an upper-level, cause if you do well that looks very great. And more weeks to focus on the material can definitely help you.

Summer registration is coming up also. Feel disappointed I may have to take more than 4 years possibly to finish 4.5 to be exact but I hear lot of people take more than 4 years.
