Just to get this out in the open.
I've heard SO many comments lately about people hating on the new schools, namely UNLV and Arizona, that I can't simply sit idly by and let it go on and on and on.
First, people are ignorantly comparing the new schools to schools that have existed for 75 years or more, which in many ways is completely unfair and frankly, uncalled for.
Dental education *is* held to the same standard among schools, but you can't rip on the new schools because they "don't have clinics yet," or "don't have strong ASDA chapters," or any of the other lame remarks I've heard lately.
Recognize that the schools are new and take it in stride. YES, attending these schools WILL give you a vastly different experience than at other schools. If that doesn't interest you or excite you, and if you aren't a pro-active type person, then you might want to do more research before applying to these schools.
Not ironically, the exact same crap was mentioned about Nova 6 years ago, and now people see Nova for what it is: an excellent school with gorgeous facilities, a diverse and bright student body, a large patient population, and students who do well on the boards.
UNLV and Arizona aren't far off from that, they're just new.
*Rant finished*
