How do you feel about the whole application experience (interviews, waitlists, etc)?
and were any of you accepted with a gpa that is in the 3.0 - 3.4 range?
Curious about Texas, applying soon, I am a texan (born and raised, been here all my life). Wonder what I should expect. Any feedback is appreciated.

As far as the application experience goes - be prepared to be disappointed with TMDSAS. Also, Texas has a pre-match/match process that adds stress to the already stressful process. As far as interviews and all that goes, it's pretty much the same as any other school, except Texas interviews a little earlier, and you'll be interviewing with essentially only people from Texas. I personally did not have a gpa in that range, but of course there are those in that range that have been accepted. As always, it all depends. Check out the Republic of Texas threads or TMDSAS threads. Those are pretty helpful.

never fully understood the match process - a link to another thread, maybe another website that could help me understand it?

Also, my primary will most def be UTH. I love this city, really don't want to leave!

lol why not?
:eyebrow:

Because they over enrolled their class this year, so it will be more competitive next year as less seats are available and apparently people have lost their faith in a&m.

My advice though is to apply anyway because it is highly unlikely that they will mess up again next year.

Anyways, i was able to pre match into my first choice so I didnt find the waiting game too stressful, and everything else went smoothly so dont expect to be dissapointed, but dont be surprised if you are

The match process is essentially identical to the residency matching processes, except with the TMDSAS process there are "pre-matches."

At some point in January, you'll rank every school that you interviewed at in the order of YOUR preference. The schools will do the same and rank all of their applicants. You'll end up matriculating at the school that is highest ranked on your list and which also ranks you high enough to give you an acceptance. If you have no pre-matches, you WILL matriculate at the school you are matched to; you get no choice.

Pre-matches throw a wrench into the process in that you may hold a pre-match acceptance AND rank other schools. Pre-matches essentially give you the option to choose schools: if you receive multiple pre-matches, you're allowed to hold onto them as long as you'd like (though you should, out of courtesy, decline offers you know you won't accept). If you rank and match at a school other than the one that offered you a pre-match, you'll have the opportunity to choose between those two schools (or more if you got multiple pre-match offers).

The entire process is explained here: http://www.utsystem.edu/tmdsas/medical/acceptance_Match_info.html
