im in the same shoes, bro. my gpa is 3.55 and dats are 22/21/16. i dont think these stats are low, for nyu, atleast. i dont have any acceptances. people in canada have recieved their letters already, and im still waiting for mine. looks like a rejection straight off. 😡
and to top off the misery, some stupid virus hacked into ALL of my online accounts, including hotmail, university email...you name it. theyre all gone. damn, things are seriously looking bad for me.
yeah... our stats are pretty similar. 3.67/3.50, 21/21/21. i really am dumb-founded by the lack of response from pretty much everywhere... concerning NYU, maybe they're trying to shake their safety school image, unfortunately at our expense.
anyway, i was feeling down before, but after some thought, i realized that it was useless to feel sorry for myself. not getting this year would at worst give me the opportunity to do something else that would in the long run make me a better dentist.
at this point i'm jsut assuming i'm going to have to reapply next year, and would honestly take any acceptance as a welcomed surprise. for those of you who are more optimistic, that's really cool, i wish i could be like that, but right now i'm more focused on the long term than putting all my energy into this cycle... the fact is that when it's all said and done i know i'll get in somewhere, whether its this cycle or still a few years away.
i encourage the rest of you who are feeling down or left out recently to remember the arduous journey that is becoming a dentist, and that even if you were to be accepted, you would still have quite a ways to go. so if you don't wind up getting accepted sometime in the near future, don't give up. don't let admissions committees tell you what you can't do. if you want it, improve yourself and your application and come right back at them next year. don't lose sight of the big picture.
best of luck to all of you, and congradulations to those of you accepted.
