I scrambled into a categorical IM position and just rematched into ob/gyn. My ob/gyn program starts mid june. I used all of my vacation time interviewing so i have ward months all the way to the end of june. I obviously will be unable to finish the entire year. I spoke with my ob/gyn program about letting me start July 1 - they said that they dont see why my institution wouldn't understand that i have to start early and just let me leave early. I want to receive full credit for the year in IM that i've completed. Unfortunately the state my ob residency is in doesnt have reciprocity for my state's medical license - so i''l have to reapply for that anyway. However, i want a full year's credit so that i can apply to ACOG/ABOG for credit for the rotations that I've completed already. I know that in ob you have to start as a pgy1 regardless - however you can get out of repeating rotations like MICU or WARDS. Will most pd be sympathetic to this situation and allow you to receive credit even if you leave a month early? Can i use sick leave etc? WHats the best way to approach this?
Thanks
