Hey guys I want to apply to SIU for this fall 2013.. I Have my application filled out and ready to turn in .. and i am taking the DAT soon.. My grades are solid (3.8). I know this is late, i just decided that i wanted to apply to dental school. Do you think i would still stand a chance if i got my application turned in now and took the DAT in a few weeks? or is it too late?

Thanks!

Same boat,
I think there are only a few that are still open to accepting applications, and I think the latest is 2/1/13 for all schools.

I'll be applying, but I know my chances are pretty slim.

If you had spectacular DATs already in your back pocket, I would say it's a long shot but maybe one worth taking with that GPA (but you would be seriously pushing the limit). Planning on taking the DAT in a few weeks, I doubt it's worth it.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't. A lot of schools you might want to consider have passed their deadlines. I don't know about other people, but I think it matters where you go to school. You want a good fit and you owe it to yourself to test all the waters out there, not just the select few with very late deadlines.

Do not apply, you will be wasting your money. The deadline for most schools have already passed. The only ones left are: Columbia on 1/15, Missouri on 1/31, and Nebraska Medical Center, Detroit Mercy, and of course SIU, have a deadline of 2/1. However, this is an application deadline. They also have DAT deadline - The date where if your DAT is not received by then, it will not count towards your application. The date is usually around December if not earlier for most schools. Since you have not taken your DAT yet, I highly doubt your application will even be considered. Not to mention, after taking the DAT it requires 2-3 weeks for audit, and then time for the ADEA to send it to the school. Too late. Prepare well for the DAT and apply next cycle. With your stats, you should get have some acceptances.

I applied very late to IU last year, got a spring interview and no offer. When I re-applied they noted that they were pleased to see I'd trying again and that it shows dedication. I received a 12/1 offer this year.

I'd say in terms of truly getting an offer you're wasting $$, but keep in mind that late app may still be an asset later on.
