I have just received a new research position, and have 2 papers that hopefully get published in the next 2 months, as well as a new addition to my community service. Is there a point when sending individual updates is too trivial to bother with? I know some schools don't allow updates, but for those that do, is adding 3 updates an issue?

Batch it all in 2 months. It is way to early to be sending any updates.

I would send them all together as one update, but like MemeLord said, wait a few months, its only august and its better to update with new publications over possible publications. Also, be aware that some schools will only accept a limited number of updates (FAU only accept 3 I think) so use them wisely.

You should actually be sending them a bullet point list each month. If they don’t respond be sure to call up the office! (not srs)

Don’t do this. This is like sending the girl you like 15 texts when she doesn’t respond right away after she already said she would be busy for a while. Don’t be that guy.
Wait... you aren't supposed to do this?

If your papers were accepted for publication, that's important and I'd send it in now. Otherwise, wait and send it all at together and keep it brief.

Update on what you have done, not what you are going to do. Talk is cheap.
