Hi, all,
I felt so bad when I walked out the test center with my score
AA 18
RC 19
PAT 20
I feel that my score is not good at all, and I am planning to take the test again. But should I wait till I got the result of my next test? Or I should go ahead and apply now.
I have lots of research experience, with first authored paper publish recently. What is my chance?
I am so desperate now.
Sigh....
🙁

What is your GPA and science GPA? Your PAT and RC are better than or equal to the reported average. And you AA isn't that out of line. With strong GPAs you are probably still okay. If you aren't happy with your DAT, study hard and re-take it in September. Only you can decide if you should wait until you re-take but if it were me, I'd go ahead and apply while your application will still be considered in the early part of the cycle. Then if you re-take, you can update your scores with the schools.

And...don't be so hard on yourself!!

Heres the good news:
No matter what GPA you have, if its high (3.5+) then your in really good shape... If its low (3.00 or less) your still in not such a bad shape and I'll explain why...

Right now, you gotta 18 AA, so sit on it for a while (its MUCH better than a person who has no score at all or some of the folks who score less than 17 AA, and believe me, there are A LOT OF THEM, maybe not here on SND but they exist). Now for you, take 1 or 2 weeks off, finish your application cycle or whatever it is you have to do.... During your time off, enjoy your life, hang out with friends, rent alot of movies, just do things that make you have fun, sex (highly prefered option), games, blah blah, whatever it is you enjoy. Do it and do alot of it.

After your time off, sit down and spend the next 2 months studying your ass off, 5-7 hrs a day for 6 days in a row (take 7th day off).... Hit the areas that you felt gave you a low score on the DAT. If I was you, I would shoot to take the Test again by end of augest / first week september.

Stay possitive, You already got the RC and PAT covered, so this time around, your gonna hit your science much more effeciently, atleast you know what the test style is like.... I really think your in MUCH better shape than majority of us who haven't taken the DAT yet.

heres the bad news...
there are none

Thank you guys for your very positive replies.
I spend around two months to prepare for the test. At the same time I am working a full time job and also taking classes at two nights per week to meet the prerequirement. So I think I have not put a lot of time into studying, maybe 2 hours daily average. I will re take it in September and study really hard before that.
Thank you guys!!!!!! I think we all can make it with some positivity.
Good night!

I would apply ASAP. It takes aadsas 4-8weeks, usually 6-8weeks to process your application. You want your application in early b/c dent schools have rolling admissions. If they look at your application initially, and you don't qualify, they put you at the end end of the pile and look at your app again. The earlier you apply, the more times they'll look at your app
