well i took the plunge on the dat today. spent a month preparing off and on. i only used the kaplan blue book as some have claimed thats all you need. i dont think that is true anymore.🙁

21 bio
21 reading comp
19 o chem
17 o chem
15 pat
15 on quantitaive

that math wasnt as easy as everyone said. i didnt get any volume/area problems. that kaplan blue book stinks. no practice problems, etc. most of the crap in there wasnt even on the test.
gonna need to fine tune my scores on my next attempt!
do schools look at your over-all dat score or sections?

hotinwoof,

seems like im answering a lot of your questions aren't I, eh? hehe...anyhow..

that isn't too bad... i wouldn't be totally honest though if i said they weren't great however. i don't know what the rest of your application is like (gpa..experience...etc.) but i think theres definitely room for improvement on the dat.

in general, i do believe (and it seems like a lot of sdners do) that high scores are key. particularly, i believe that your NS matters most. your bio must be as high as possible, the chems at least 20..

the reason why i say this is bc in consideration of my recent experiences with the applicatin process, it has been the dat scores, specifically the NS average that pulled me through (gpa is not as competitive) that pat and math.. as long as you hit the average, you are ok. but those science scores must score 21ish and higher...then you can sit back and just watch the interviews roll in..

thanks for all the input disco. i know my scores suck. will need to double my efforts and get new study material.

You have 2 o-chem scores there... one of them must be general-chem score, right?

dude, your scores are not that bad..... you just need to work on some elementary math....

That not funny.🙁 I got a 14 on QR. Ya the stuff is easy if you refresh, but I totally underestimated the section. Anyhow, alot of schools could care less. One adcom during my interview, stated that I obtained high grades in other courses requiring math like physical chemistry, so just because you got a 15 does not mean you know $hit about QR. I never have the need to figure out how long it would take me and my brother to paint a room if I do it in 3 hours and he does it 5, and all the other useless questions.

you know, it's funny how you say that you did lousy. your science is good but i think you probably mean your pat and math... those are lousy scores... it just means you didn't care much for pat and math and just focused on mostly the sciences.... not balanced, may not llook too good for dental schools.... just take the dat again, since you have strong science and reading scores just focus mainly on pat and math.... good luck bro
