Hi everybody,

This is my first post after 2 months of just reading posts 🙂 A big thank you for everybody who described the testing procedures i.e. 6 pgs of scratch paper, use prometric's pencils, 15 min tutorial to start off with, etc.

Well I took the DAT on july 12th and am relieved it is over. For those interested, my scores for the real test and practice kaplan tests are the following: (order of kaplan tests I took was diag, mid, final, cd)

Real DAT
PAT 22
QR 22
RC 21
Bio 20
GChem 22
OChem 25
TS 22
AA 22

I had the sea urchin question as well, and felt that the bio questions were quite different from what I studied It felt like just random out of nowhere questions were thrown at me. I only used Kaplan subject tests that I bought from a friend on cd, the Kaplan blue book, and Barrons for the PAT section. I thought i did better in QR and RC than I did, but I didn't study for those sections except for when I was taking practice tests. I studied in total for about 2.5 months and hopefully these scores will help me get into a dental school. I have a low gpa, 2.99 cumultive and 2.85 in the sciences 🙁 I applied to 7 schools (I'm a CA resident)... BU, NYU, UOP, UCSF, Temple, Columbia, and Tufts. Do you guys think there are any other schools I should add to my list? Thanks.

congrats. good job. I think you only listed your real DAT scores 😉

Cheeseburger - those are great scores!! You should definitely get into somewhere.

I'm getting ready to take the DAT in about a week and wanted to ask you, how long after you took the Kaplan midterm & final did you actually take the DAT. Thanks.

Hi, I took the tests about 3 times. The scores I listed were the first time I took the tests (the diag b4 i started studying), the cd score was about 3 weeks before the test. But in the last 2 weeks I redid all the tests to gear up for the real test.

I don't remember any specifics about the test because I tried to not dwell on questions to ruin my concentration. Just answer them and move on. A lot of the questions were stuff I had a feeling that I knew, but weren't positive in my answers.

congratulations on a great score!!

I noticed a similar trend when preparing. Good job and good luck in your applications!

Wow cheeseburger, congratulations!! 20+ across the board, you must be proud of yourself! Dont you want to apply to more schools in Cali since you're a resident and all and they mostly like in-state applicants? just a suggestion since you have a better shot at them than out-of-state applicants. 🙂

Thanks for replying about test procedures and now I see taht you've described some here... about the "use prometric's pencils, 15 min tutorial to start off with," why use prometric's pencils? and what about the 15 min. tutorial should I know? what is the famous "sea urchin" question?

I'm sorry I'm relatively new to the board and havent made my way around to all the old posts to know what people are talking about.. if you can fill me in, it would be VERY much appreciated. and anything you have to suggest would be appreciated also.. 😳
