Hi guys. So I just took the DAT and was not too relieved after taking them. I just wanted to know how these scores look:

PAT 21
BIO 18
OG 20
GC 23
RC 19
QR 16 🙁
TS 20
AA 19

I thought I did much better in QR. I dont know what happened. My GPA is a 3.64 and my science GPA is a 3.76. I just wanted some feedback, what do you guys think?

Did you submit your app yet? I think these scores are awesome!!! A 23 in GC looks amazing. I am sure you'll be fine with your GPA!! How did you find the GC... everyone is saying "conceptual"... does this mean you're not using the white-board for a lot of the Chem portion? Congrats!!

Those scores are definetely competitive. People seem to be having issues with time on the QR section, and it is showing in their scores. Was this what happened with you?

Impressive GPA as well.

You look to be in good shape.. :luck:

The scores are competitive, but you should look more in depth at schools you wanna apply to. I know some schools, like NYU and Temple, require at least an 18 in every section, so make sure you meet the minimum requirements.

well the GC was definetly more conceptual. I had a few calculations (about 6 or 7) so I had to use the white board for those. But as I was taking the exam, I thought this section was the most difficult. The Bio was also difficult. There were a lot of problems I did not come across as I was studying. But other than that it was okay. The QR was a bunch of word problems and others where you needed to know specific formulas. As time was cutting down, I had to guess on a few. But all in all i thought the test was okay. gluck everybody.

And another question: what schools other than upenn, nyu, and temple care about scores below 17?

not too sure what other schools besides those...you'll have to research it. You'll probably be fine for your state school though. I think the private schools will want higher DAT scores.

Do you think I should call up the schools and ask them? Because I'm a little worried. I have everything else in application wise and if I have to retake it would be in September. I am a New York resident and I applied to about 11 schools: NYU temple stonybrook umdnj maryland uconn buff pitts columbia boston and tufts.
Thanks for the advice.

I agree with you here. I've been noticing it to. Great scores and then QR is the oddball low score. It worries me cause you can tell everyone is smart and working hard based on their other scores.... but for whatever reason QR spells trouble. Especially since I've been getting rocked in QR during my practicing.

To the OP:

Scores look awesome! 🙂

It's a tough call on what to do about QR, definitely worth calling around to some schools like others said. Although September wouldn't be totally late to take it, but you may not want to put yourself through that again.

I've been asking everyone this question, so here goes:

Is there anything you felt you could have done differently to prepare for QR?

Yeah I dont know if Im going to be able to go through all of this hardwork again but if its the only way then I might have to.
But to answer your question, I would probably practice more of the more complicated word problems just so that you can be prepared for them on the real thing. Other than that, its all just about practicing. I had stuff on my exam which I never came across during practice tests so its really up in the air. Hope that helps.

Thanks. It does help. Motivates me to sit down and do some math right now 🙂

Good luck with the rest of the app process.

Great scores! Just wanted to say that I had a lot of trouble with QR too. On the DAT QR was my only score below 18, (16), and it completely messed up my AA. Too many word problems and not enough time.

I can not imagine with your grades that you will have to retake.
A word of advice for those who have not yet taken the DAT remember you can miss 11 questions and still get a 20 (miss 16 questions = 18), so do not waste time on long word problems make educated guesses and move on. I am not saying don't try to solve them I just think with so much room for error on this section, it make sense to have time to attempt every question, which only serves to increase your score.
