During my senior year of high school, I moved across the country to a city. I decided to do a dual enrollment program with my HS and take OChem. The school worked on a trimester system and I got a B-,B-, and B in lecture. I also got As in both labs. My question for you all is, do you think I should retake the class?

I am a junior now and I have a 3.98 GPA at my current school. I calculated my GPA after and I found that I had a 3.85. While this is still a great GPA, I have a weaker set of ECs, which were compensated for by my grades research. However, with this lower GPA, I am worried that I may take a significant hit.

I spoke to the vice-chair of the admissions committee at Mayo and he said they don't care. But, Mayo is a bit of an odd ball. What does everyone think? Am I being an overly neurotic pre-med? Thank you very much for your help!

how did you take ochem without gen chem? or did you take AP chem your junior year

It depends on if you're attending school near Rochester MN currently.

AP junior year... I don't actually regret taking the class. To me, it was something like a baptism in fire. I came out better for it, but it hurts to look at.

Your GPA is still great. Anything you add by boosting it with a retake will not make or break you at any school.
I'd just do a content review for the MCAT and call it a day

You're fine.. There is no difference in an adcoms mind between a 3.85 and a 3.98 with B-'s from high school lol.. They will see your grade trend so you'll be fine. Just make sure you have a solid foundation for the MCAT since you took chemistry in high school (I would check and make sure that med schools will accept these credits).

Also, if your ECs are weak.. Fix them!!

I can't imagine many situations where I would recommend someone retake a course they made a B in, especially somebody with your GPA.
