Fun $hit...

First standardized test I had more than 6 hours of sleep going into...

I'll just say some things about my exam. Heaviest stuff in mine was a lot of anatomy, cell bio/genetics style stuff, pharm, and heme. I felt all the images were of great quality. MRI's and pictures were clear and to the point. Lots of questions left me wondering "WTF? are they talking about"
A lot of questions I felt like I had seem similar ones before....
Definitely some heavy questions on pharm that had me wondering wtf they were talking about. I only used first aid for pharm..and basically, every pharm question was an interaction question...which pissed me off..cuz I like learning mechanisms, not toxicities....
Anatomy - Lots of questions(~25). Thank god it wasn't much of neuro(~15 other than the 25)...I actually had a decent amount of embryo (more than 5 questions)
Behavioral science is straight forward...much more so than qbank. don't stress about it. A lot of epi questions...a few that I had no idea what they were talking about...(maybe a total of like 25 on that)
Micro was not very dominant on my test...the ones that were there were straightforward.
Immuno was definitely stressed - some things in there I felt I would know the answer and then I woulnd't see a correct choice. (probably 15-20)
Surprisingly Cardiac drugs were not mentioned on my exam..maybe 2 questions...which I was relieved about!
Physio was very light on my exam.

If I had to study again, i would focus much more on the glycolysis and gluconeogenesis pathways in biochem...I forgot the enzymes and it screwed me on about 7 questions)

I did 69% of Qbank... I felt that would be a good number to end off on... And for the record my percent on it was fairly low.. I was averaging 60% on all the questions. I don't really know what to expect coming out of the exam, but I tend to be pretty impulsive in my answering of questions and I don't feel particularly bad about it...
I felt qbank did a good job of preparing me for some things...but it did a horrible job in forming a base...There were a lot of basic science questions that I had no clue but were phrased so easily (eg. "XXX is a transporter that works by doing ...." - I lost a ton of points that way b/c I just forget that stuff).

Test center itself:
I felt a little bit thrown into the room without really knowing what to do..and the people at the testing center seemed like they knew less than me when it came to breaks and stuff. Argued with the people that I should have 60 minutes break when they said I only had 45..then I was like "ya know, it doens't really matter...i'm not gonna use it..so oh well"... Temp was fine... no excessive noise...
Broke it down:
100 questions
10 min break
100 questions
25 min. pseudo lunch break
100 questions
5-10 min break
50 questions
Just remember that even if you feel like you can go without much of a break, once you start that hour block, you're in it for good...at first I was gonna do 150 at first...but then i started to daze out on my second block... I didn't really have any issues with time until the last block..but I think that's b/c I wanted to get the hell out of there and the questions seemed to be getting a lot harder and a lot more involved..like i COULD figure out the answer...but instead I decided to put whatever and move on...I could have used about another 10 min on a couple sections..but oh well...

Time to drink!

Good job, and congrats on getting it over with! 👍

congrats scobby-don't pary too hard, I don't want to hear the towers rocking- 🙂
Welcome to 3rd year-
Have fun this week- 😉 😀

You mean you didn't remember glycolysis from class

I have had to live with the towers rocking cuz of the 24th floor before...so it's my turn!

What do you all mean by alot of molecular biology. Pathways, dna replication, bio tech? It seems that a test for soon to be doctors would stress this, just curious.

molbio is like restriction endonucleases and stuff among other things. like bamHI and hindIII and stuff like that. as a doctor i'll never be reading gels, screw that. they don't teach that in med school, except in first year biochem. and even then they don't stress it too much.

Sorry about this basic question, but this question is related to break... So once you finish a block, you can sign off, go out take a break, come back in, then sign in for another block, right? And as far as the 60 min block (plus 15 more minutes if you skip tutorial?) if you accidently use 61 minutes, (which you have to keep track by using your watch... ) then it eats up one minute of your test block, right? So basically, you add up minutes that you take breaks, upto 60 minutes, right?

Sorry, but i wanted to make sure I had this right. Thanks. 😳

rubulla,

small clarification:
the 15 minutes you save by skipping the tutorial FALLS WITHIN the 60minute free cumulative break time!!!

thus overall one can never go beyond 8hours.
