Hello People so I took the DAT today and here are my scores:

PAT-18 RC-16 QR- 16 GC-18 OC-18 Bio-20 TS-18 AA-18

My GPA is a 3.4 what are my chances please. Thanks.

My opinion on test and preparation:

So I studied the entire kaplan blue book for 1 month total doing about 4 chapters per day (8-9 hrs) then I used about 3 weeks to go through all the kaplan subject tests that I got from a friend (did not take the kaplan class). I then got a hold of the destroyer and went through all the Bio, chem and o chem questions and part of the math questions. Then I read all the review right and wrong answers. My opinion, the kaplan subject tests were amazing!!! I got about 8 exact questions, I can not stress doing as many questions as possible (lol). Also the destroyer is a must!!!! it gave me practice like I never had, my brain was on fire afterwards though so be prepared. The actual test was decent (not hard, or easy). The Bio I loved as you can tell lol, math was a killer no time to finish. Rc sucked but was not too bad. The hardest section was the Perceptual ability I am talking angles like .1 degrees difference in size lol. But It was manageable. Good luck too all and please give me any feedback. Thanks

Just being realistic, your GPA is below the average for accepted students at most schools, and so is your DAT. Although an AA-18 isn't bad, it's below the average for accepted students also. So honestly, if your GPA is below average, your DAT needs to be considerably above average (20 or above) in order to be realistically competitive. So I would advise a retake. Especially since that AA-18 has 3 16's.

I hate to be discouraging but let's be realistic. I took my DAT two years ago with great score(21,22,16) and subGPA and didn't get anywhere. so I would say to retake. I'm retaking mine towards the end of august. g luck to you

dude, i remember you told everyone like 2 months ago you would not come on sdn...AND DIDN'T. That takes mad skill. Anyways, your scores have a lot of 16's in them. I don't think you have a very good chance at most schools. However, if you have a state school that gives preference to residents, than thats another story. Who knows though. This is just my opinion which should matter like this much (puts index and thumb very close together) Good luck man!

For you people that like to jump to conclusion, I am not going to scan my paper and sent to you for you to beleive me. I am anonymous, plus my scores are not even like that amazing to fake about hahahaha, I listed the grades as I see them. I did not do the math, prometric did hahaha. Thanks for all the honest opinions.

Are you sure you didn't make a typo when you listed your scores? If you didn't, then lucky you that prometric messed up.

LOL ooohhhh!!!! I am so sorry guys my score on the OC was 18 lol. Typo!!! I am extremely sorry. But still I am not a liar my scores are not the greatest for me to lie. Good luck to all still studying!!

OMFS08,

Sorry. Last month, you motivated me in your 6/01 club and that helped me a lot. I appreciate it. I was just hoping they calculated your grades wrong.. meaning you should've gotten a higher score in one or two of the sections? NOthing else. Goodluck to you....

Actually, Im not sure about OMFS any more. I just want to get into Dental school first then I will decide. Wish me luck!

OMFS- I have an 18 TS and 18 AA with a 3.4 GPA (3.4 in the sciences too)... it will be interesting to see what happens to us! Where are you applying?

Wow, u didn't get in ANYWHERE with those scores??? That's scary Where's you apply UCLA? lol Seriously though.. did you even get interviews? I really thought getting into dental schools meant more than just having great gpa &dats... I applied last year (i knew i had close to 0 changes of getting in, but i did it anyway, and I'm glad i went through the process. I applied in june i took my dats in august and got HORRIBLE SCORES 16s on bio&ochem, 17 gchem, 20 PAT 21RC 14QR (i didnt study for that section at all- i know i know very very stupid of me) But anyway, i only applied to 4 schools, the ones in CA, and even though i did get a "no" from all- of course, USC did put me on their waiting list, and only int he end of May did they write me a very nice letter that their class is full, but they would love to talk to me about my app over the phone or in person, and if decide to re-apply they assure me they will put my app first blah blah blah..
So anyway my gpa is 3.4 - not that great or anything, but i think that the only reason usc even looked twice at my app, is bc i have 5000 hrs of dental experience ( i worked at a dental office since i was 16- 21 yrs old) i have ~300 hrs of volunteering at uop dental school, 100 hr volunteering as a TA in my university's anatomy lab, i had strong letters of rec. good PS (i worked on it for like 4 months!) and i also took a predental simulation course at uop..
Now I'm re-applying ( to 15 schools this time) retaking DAT tomorrow (SO NERVOUS!!!!!) have a BS in Physiology (graduated in may- same gpa though) and now have an extra ~100 hrs of volunteering in marine physiology lab (lots of research experience). Although I don't think I can get extremely high scores on the dat, i know i will improve (at least i really really hope so) and maybe get a 19??
I realize that others might have even more volunteering/experience, but i just dont know- am i average in terms of that or competative??
I mean seriously though am i wasting my time? This is all so stressful
...
Anyway.. any input- would be greatly appriciated
Good to all of you getting in this year!!! :luck:

dude, I take the dat tomorrow too. I'm not as nervous as I should be...which is good. Somehow I have assured myself I am prepared and the rest is up to fate, and which version of the dat I get. You shouldn't think about what your scores will get. It will just make you more nervous. Just make the intention that you will go into that test aiming to give your best shot at each question. In the end, it is what it is.

I am an international student so I am planning on applying to all schools that have high acceptance rates for internationals. So Howard, NYU, Meharry, Temple, Creighton, Tufts, Detroit mercy and University of Puerto Rico. How about you? I volunteer in oral surgery and I got a chance to work directly with the dentists today for a 2 hr procedure doing suctions, sutures etc. It was a rush. I think I will end up in Oral Surgery within a hospital setting. Do you have any experience in the area as yet?
