Took the DAT yesterday, and I am not sure what I should do at this point.

Here are my scores

PAT: 22
RC: 23
QR: 21
BIO: 17
GC: 19
OC: 19

AA: 20
TS: 18

Ok, a 20/18/22 doesn't look too bad at first sight, but my 17 in Bio will definitely hurt me. Also, I have all of my science sections below 20 (but I am mainly pissed at my Bio)

Bio: I have studied the destroyer in and out. I knew everything there is to it. Read it 5 times, thoroughly. Also, I have studied all of the achiever problems. The questions I had were so random that I was laughing in front of my screen during the Bio test. Who cares how exactly the pellagra works, what the pernicious anemia is. You really need to know how each vitamins/minerals will prevent which kind of diseases. And I am NOT talking about the very basic vitamins/minerals. There are several kind of B vitamins - know them all. Even stuff like K, D, etc.
Also, know eveything about tropisms, and photoperiodism ( I am sure I got that wrong).

If I were to do it all over again, I would use cambell, Schaum, and Cliff.

Oh, and know what gonad and myotome is.
And study the Kranz structure.

Math: No crazy trig/probability question at all. I have studied the SAT math book and it was more than enough. Lot's of word questions, but they are not bad.

GC: if you are using the destroyer, only do the conceptual problems. I had about 2 calculation problems, and even those were easy calculations (simple addition or multiplication). don't waste your time doing the long/hard calculation problems. Pretty much everything is covered in the Kaplan/destroyer/achiever.

OC: this is my weak area, so I don't have much to say. The problems were easy but that doesn't mean I did well.

PAT: Not as hard as achiever. More like Kaplan tests.

You did a good job. Don't feel bad. You'll get interviews soon.
May I ask what were your scores in practice tests like kaplan, Achiever and Top score?

congrats on your scores! don't be so worried...I'm sure you will get plenty of interviews with those scores! good job!

For RC/PAT/QT, my topscore results were similar to the real DAT. I had about 2-3 more points on each science section when I took topscore.

My achieve scores were

Bio 19/OC 20/GC 21/PAT 19/RC 21/QR 23

I think you did very well. 23 on RC.. thats awesome! What was your strategy for reading comprehension??

Thank you very much for sharing.

I was lucky to have the passages that I know well of. Discovery of light, How the pain reliever works, and animal behavior.

I really didn't have any particular strategy.

For the Bio, you should also study the counter-current theory in detail. You should be prepared with any kind of numerial calculation problem about the counter-current theory.

Seriously! Ive never heard of half this stuff! Where in the world does this question come from!!!

Is this in relation to the counter-current multiplier of the kidney?

is this post for real?
anyone else had similar questions?

Yes it is for real. I am not saying that the questions were "what is _______"
Also, I cannot tell you the exact questions - I am just saying that knowing those topics will at least indirectly help you with some of the bio problems.

Altogether, I had similar experience with the mytoothlady although I think the problem set were different.

u kidding right? cheer up those are awesome scores...what are you talking about...congrats!!

counter-current theory of the kidney isn't anything unheard of.

um right...u did "horrible." today must be opposite day.

u did great, so calm down.

Ummmmm, Im feeling like we might have a raise a bit of a b.s. flag on this one????

I am not saying that the Bio section was asking for those exact topics. Also iit is not allowed to discuss the exact topics here. All I am saying is that if you know those topics, you will at least indirectly benefit from it.

But you should definitely know the counter-current theory of the kidney.

man this section is getting to crazy. i might have to read bio book like crazy so i can get a 20. those are questions that i have never heard b4. hey dude thanx for sharing.
