I just took the DAT at 8 am on Thursday August 9th 2007. This is how I did:

Organic Chemistry: 18
Biology: 19
General Chemistry: 21
Reading Comprehension: 18
Quantitative Reasoning: 21
Perceptual Ability: 23

I used Kaplan and Destroyer as my study guides which were helpful. The truth of it is though, I probably should have used more study tools because I was striving to get 20s in all of the sciences. Going into the DAT I thought biology was my strongest subject and obviously I was underestimating the difficulty of this section.

Let me also tell you a little about myself. I am currently enrolled in a masters program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. While in this program, I have already taken Dental Physiology and Dental Biochemistry with the NJ Dental School and received a B+ and A respectively in each. I have a 3.9 GPA in my masters, and I had a 3.0 at Rutgers University undergraduate program. I am hoping my recent success at UMDNJ and on my DAT with boost my undergrad GPA credentials and allow me to get my foot into a dental school. What do all of you think?

I am applying to UMDNJ, Temple, Pitt, UPenn, Tufts, Boston U, NYU, Nova, Maryland, Michigan, USC, and SUNY Buffalo.

Thanks for reading this,
Bob

not bad scores at all! Better than mine and I got into temple (last year). I was told that this years class(temple) had really high DAT scores (avg 20). I would think you would get interviews with those scores at least. I am not saying acceptances but at least interviews.. Have you talked to any admission staff at UMDNJ? If you can hack it in there class, I would think they would see you as qualified for there school (just my guess though). acceptance into schools can be a real ***** sometimes. You do everything by the book and schools just puck in the end... sometimes you need that biatch "luck" to be on your side..

Good job. You showed no weakness so with your 3.9 in UMDNJ already, you should look very competitive.

I predict youll get into at least two schools on Dec1 assuming you've applied early. Most likely Maryland and Pitt. Id say very good shot at nova. The others i dont know too much about, and my info is based on stats from the 2004 cycle.

Hi as a practicing dentist for 21 years my crystal ball tells me your in somewhere for sure. I would be surprised if you didnt get into NJ unless you had some personality conflicts with the people there. Best of luck.👍

Solid scores buddy. Good luck with the rest of the journey.

I need some advice. Should I waste money on gas, and bring my scores in person to some of the dean's of admission at the dental schools I applied to or just wait it out and be patient.

I would take it personally to the state schools if you are in rush...i dont know if you are talking about going out of state (if you applied), but i wouldnt.

Any other advice from anyone else other than our kind Mstoothlady whom has responded to all of my posts? You're the best toothlady!

cograds on the scores...I'm using the same resourses, I would be in cloud nine if I were you right now! how bad was the rc? english is my second language and I'm really worried...

I've heard rumors that if English is not your first language, they barely even look at your RC score, as long as you perform well in the other sections. Good luck Kim.

hey bob,

congrats on your scores. Based on your GPA and scores, I would say that you have pretty good chances for UMDNJ as well as other schools. I wish I had your GPA I'd be extremely happy with my application then. congrats once again.
