Does anyone know which are among the top for an MD/PhD?

Also, I'm not sure how do the Immuno, ID, and Virology differ. Can someone explain?

Sorry, don't know about the "top" schools, but I'm at Penn for immuno and we have a great program. Tons of faculty, lots of colaboration, basically pick your topic within the field and we have faculty getting papers in top journals. At least at Penn, immunology is a separate program from virology, which is actually part of the cell and molecular program. But plenty of people's research overlaps the two areas. The med school is in the top, too, but I don't know much about which programs within it are best.

I think one of the best ways to find out who is top in your field is to get a few copies of Science, Nature, Nature Immunology, etc., and go through the papers that are relevant and see where they're coming from.
